To be honest, I was surprised you gave it as high a rating as you did based on your review. Guinness Draught really is a flavorless beer, and has effectively become a BMC (BMCY in Mid-Atlantic... Y is for Yuengling) alternative like Stella Artois, Heinekin, etc.

For a nitro-draught stout like Guinness, Young's has much better offering. Their Oatmeal Stout and Double Chocolate Stout have immensely better flavor.

That's not to say Guinness has nothing to offer. Their classic Extra Stout (the one in the smaller bottles without any nitro "widgets") has a great flavor, and their Foreign Extra Stout, if you can get it, is even better.

You are clearly insane. Guinness is clearly worthy of a higher rating than you give it. Did I mention the insanity part? That would be you...

I feel you on the "digging a hole thing." I always told myself growing up I wouldn't spend my adult life behind a desk. Now that I'm just joining the workforce, it's looking like I'll be spending quite a bit of time behind a desk. I love living in a city, but sometimes I just want to chop some wood and play in the dirt.

The "worldwide distribution" version of Guinness is creamy. That's all that it has going for it. Once you've had a "real" stout, there's simply no going back to Guinny. It's the Stout Drinker's equivalent of Hieney. The export version is tolerable...but since they got swallowed up by the massive international beer conglomeration, the draught stuff has really been reduced to BMC status.
