I would not say that Yeungling is the best beer in the world but I also would not say it is as mediocre at you are putting it. Now, I am from philadelphia so Yeungling is in healthy supply. But there is something comforting about the fact that I can go to any bar and say “I’ll have a lager” and know that I will be rewarded with a delicious Yeungling.
Its not the best but I just love it, again, I may be bias, but it is just a beer that consistently delivers quality.
On the topic Pennsylvania brewery’s…Give Yards a try. I think i’ve seen a comment on them before but they put out some incredible ales. Their IPA is one of my favorites and their Pale ale and Extra special are great as well.
Oh! Last note and i’m done, I promise. If you ever get a chance to come to Philadelphia, you HAVE to check out Independence Brew Pub. All of my favorite beers are brewed there. They have an Oatmeal Stout, an IPA and a Kolsch that are unbelievable.

I used to always say that we’re pretty lucky here in Pittsburgh to get Yuengling. Here, the three-tap bars usually have Yuengling on the third tap, which is much better than the options typically found elsewhere in the country.
Glad to hear they’ve opened a brewery elsewhere. They’re the oldest brewery in America and it’d be nice to be able to get it outside of PA.

I’m from PA and Yuengling is plentiful here. A buddy of mine (from PA as well) used to live in Florida when Yuengling started brewing down there. He said that beer wasn’t as good as the stuff brewed in Pottsville, PA. Maybe it was the chemistry of the water, maybe it was working out the kinks in a new brewery. I don’t know.
I think you’re right about the Bud/Yuengling comparison. They are marketed to overlapping demographic groups.
