When I brought this beer over to my friend’s house, he described St. Pauli Girl thusly - “It’s like drinking Beck’s when you don’t want to drink Beck’s.” And he’s really pretty close. They share a lot of the same flavors and that’s not really suprising since they’re brewed by the same company. I prefer Beck’s by quite a margin, but St. Pauli Girl has such better ads. What’s a man to do?
The 12-pack I picked up wasn’t skunky at all - I think the trick with most of these green-bottle beers is to buy the 12-pack so that the light doesn’t have much of a chance to get in. Another easy-drinking beer with that German-style hoppiness that I enjoy. It’s easy enough to put back two or three of these without even noticing - it goes down really smoothly with a slight bitterness. Too bad New Orleans was no match for Sexy Rexy’s laser-guided arm and total throwgasm potential. And screw you, Payton Manning.

I agree. St. Pauli Girl always tastes, to me, like it was filtered through somebody’s chimney or an industrial smokestack, just prior to bottling. I’d drink Beck’s any day before cracking a St. Pauli Girl.
