I tried this trash a weekend ago, and you’re right. There’s almost nothing beer about it. It’s all flavoring. The vanilla is absolutely overpowering, and what little bourbon flavor there is tastes artificial. I figured it would be a middle-of-the-road ale with some added complexity from the aging in bourbon casks, but I was certainly wrong. In the future I’ll make sure to avoid “theme” beers from macrobrews.
