I first had this beer at the Toronado Pub in San Francisco while having a sausage from the place next door. This was one of the first Belgian beers that I really enjoyed - before then I had only really had lots of Belgian whites that were sub-par. Drinking it again at the Chimes brought back many memories of afternoons spent in the city, trying to avoid thinking about going back to the labs at Berkeley.
I got a full pint of this monster along with dinner and the beer greatly outshone the meal. Fruity aroma with an undercurrent of hops. The fruit comes through in the taste, too - raspberries and something else that I just can’t place. This beer has a lot of sweetness but enough malt and hops to balance that out nicely.
