I pulled this one out of the fridge and remarked “Kirin - it’s like Japanese Budweiser.” After tasting it apparently my memory wasn’t far off. Light golden color with little to no head, very light and sweet flavor with little in the way of hops. There’s also a nasty aftertaste that lingers far too long - but I guess it gets you to keep drinking it as quickly as possible - the flavor’s at least better than that aftertaste. Overall it’s just not a very good beer. It is fun to get the big bottle at sushi restaurants, however, but I’ll take Sapporo over this one any day.

The word Ichiban has always bothered me. I’m not sure why.
